Class 47 Celebration

2002 marks the end of the Class 47s on Virgin's Cross Country services, and with it the end of the 47s in front line service.

Video Profile - The Class 47s

A programme filmed in the period from 1987 to 1990 when the Class was still dominant throughout the network, and active on everything from express passenger to Speedlink workings. Coverage is inlcuded from every corner of the network, with a wide range of liveries. Includes freight at Ashford, and passenger workings to Inverness, plus freight in the West Country. A real gem from the pre-privatisation era.

The Class 47s - 2002

A look at the 47s during their last months of 'frontline' service, and comprising: The First Great Western 47s, the Virgin 47s, the Virgin 'Celebrities' including the 'XP64', 'large logo', 'two tone' Green, 'Police' and Corporate Blue examples, Freightliner 47s, plus 47s on the Lickey and to the South West.
