The Programme includes a journey behind steam from King’s Cross to the North West of Scotland on the Railway Touring Company’s ‘North Briton’ Tour of April 2008 featuring: 60019 ‘Bittern’ 60009 ‘Union of South Africa’ 71000 ‘Duke of Gloucester’ and Black 5 45407 .

Steam is shown at a wide variety of locations including the East Coast Main Line, the Forth and Tay Bridges, the Highland Main Line, on the line to Kyle of Lochalsh. On the way we introduce steam railways in the United Kingdom and around the world both past and present.

The West Somerset Railway with a range of Great Western power on passenger and freight. Filmed during the Spring Steam Gala of March 2008, this feature includes Black 5 45110 and the LNWR ‘Super D’ and a range of former Great Western power on passenger and freight.

The North York Moors Railway featuring A4s 60007 ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’, 60009 ‘Union of South Africa’ and 60019 ‘Bittern’. Plus archive film of steam over Shap in the 1960s with film taken on the climb at Greenholme & at Dillicar Troughs.

The Hedjaz Railway in the Middle East with steam in action on the railway immortalised in the film ‘Lawrence of Arabia’. Steam across the Andes in Ecuador featuring an American built loco with footage from the lineside & footplate.

Steam power AT Newcastle 1964 including A1s, J27s, Q6s & V3s on passenger and freight. Plus archive film of steam in the North East in the 1960s with film from North Blythe featuring K2s and J27s.

Main Line steam at Wolsztyn including a ride on the footplate & lineside action during Winter.
