On the 5th of October 1970, British Railways closed much of the network of lines serving rural East Lincolnshire.

In this programme we use archive film to journey back in time. In addition we visit many of the main lines prior to the modernisation schemes of recent years.

Lincoln from the 1960s to the 1980s featuring Central and St Marks Stations and the approach lines with a range of diesel traction on freight and passenger duties.

A journey on the cross country line from Lincoln to Firsby via Bardney and Woodhall Junction including the intermediate stations.

The station and junctions at Firsby with local, express and holiday traffic.

The main line from Firsby to Grimsby via and Willoughby Junction.

A journey along the Mablethorpe branch including loco hauled holiday traffic.

The branch to New Holland Pier and Barton on Humber in the 1970s.

The main line to Grimsby in the early 1980s including Class 31s on passenger duties.

The railway junction at Barnetby in the early 1980s with DMUs, Class 20s and Class 31s on freight & passenger duties.

In addition the programme includes past and present scenes showing these changes that have taken place over the last 40 years.
