 Carlisle is an important railway centre, standing at the hub of the West Coast route to Scotland. In this feature we explore the station and its approaches, and the area around Kingmoor Yard to the north.

The programme comprises:
Carlisle Station, its approaches, and Kingmoor Yard in the summer of 2006 with a wide range of freight, mail and passenger traffic. Class 86, 87, 90, 92, electrics and Class 37, 57, 66, 67 diesel haulage is included on all the major workings.

Carlisle in 2004 with Class 37s on workings to Leeds and Scotland and the end of Virgin loco haulage.
